After crossing paths with Movements- through two years of Warped Tour and shows in my area; I finally talked with Pat. Movements is a band who pulled me in through their lyrical content: Alzheimer's, Mental Health, the loss of a loved one- are just some things they cover in their music. As someone who's career is pulling songs apart it drew me in.
Through this, the question of "how can I do better" was an important thing that was asked. When you don't know something it is important to ask. Learning and expanding your own personal knowledge, which in turn will expand a fan base. After sitting (or standing) with Pat, that is exactly what happened. He explained his experience of working with an interpreter in the past, Disabled fans, and non- profits such as Half/ Access and The Alzheimer's Association. It is important that we as a scene work towards progress to being more inclusive.
